Z'ha'dum
C&C: The door to C&C swings open, and Commander Ivanova enters the gallery. In the foreground below her, Corwin works at a station in the Pit.
Corwin: Commander - we're picking up a disturbance.
Ivanova: Location?
Corwin: (With a worried expression) All around us.
***************************************
Ivanova: (Having by this stage positioned herself before the Command Console) Status?
Corwin: (Still in the Pit and sounding remarkably calm given the situation) They're not moving - holding position.
***************************************
Ivanova: (Still at the Command Console, her voice betraying a note of desperation) Can you get through to Draal?
Corwin: (Hurriedly ascending the steps to the gallery, en route to some unspecified task) Negative - they're jamming us. I don't understand - they're just sitting there.
**********************************
Corwin: (Leaving the wall mounted monitor he's been examining, and moving towards G'kar, who stands next to Ivanova at the Command Console.) They're leaving - I don't get it. (Glancing sideways at the Narn representative) What happened?
G'Kar: (Pensively) They wouldn't just leave - unless we were no longer a threat to them. (He in turn glances at Ivanova, whose already drawn face collapses into an expression of despair)
Ivanova: (Gasping more than actually speaking) He's gone.
********************************
C&C: Corwin is seen moving reluctantly towards his commanding officer, who is slumped in a chair at the Captain's station, the very picture of despondency. The camera moves around Corwin's head, showing him in profile for a moment. His eyes are cast to the ground, his expression a blend of fear, shock and tension, and he is obviously not relishing the news he's obliged to deliver. He pauses, gathering himself before addressing Ivanova.
Corwin: (Softly) Commander? (He waits while Ivanova rouses herself from her thoughts)
Ivanova: (Without much obvious hope) Any word on the Captain? Anything at all?
Corwin: (Speaking slowly, and in the same muted tone) We tried everything. The Whitestar isn't receiving. (After a brief pause) As far as we can tell.....it's been destroyed. (While Ivanova tries to digest this information, Corwin continues in the same gentle and reluctant manner) There's something else. We checked the fighter bays. One of the fighters we sent out didn't come back.
Ivanova: (Just managing to maintain a professional demeanour) Who was the pilot?
Corwin: (As gently as he can) Mr Garibaldi.
